Something we have instinctively known has now been proved
- Bread is good for us!
Bread
and the Food Pyramid
Grain-based foods like bread form the
foundation of the Good Food Pyramid, the Food guide to healthy
eating, along with cereal, rice and pasta. 6 to 11 servings
per day, (depending on one’s energy requirements) of
the Grain group are recommended in the guidelines.
The Good Food Pyramid indicates the foods we should be eating
and the optimum quantity of each. For example:
foods at the base are those we should select more often
those at the top are those we should select least often
Reduce dietary fat and sugar
Nutritional science has proven that eating too much fat and
sugar and not enough foods containing complex carbohydrates
can lead to coronary heart disease. A high fat, high sugar
diet has also been linked to other illnesses such as cancer
and strokes. Bread, high in complex carbohydrates, vitamins
and minerals, is the preferred nutritious substitute for high
fat and sugar foods. In addition, foods high in complex carbohydrates
like bread are more slowly digested than sugar-laden foods,
staving off hunger and allowing for a slow and steady release
of energy as the complex carbohydrates are digested.
Wellness Bread is made from the freshest, purest ingredients
you would expect in a nutritious bread and it is slow baked
to preserve the natural ingredients. It is the added ingredients
such as Inulin, which bring Wellness

foods making it a truly extraordinary bread. A serving
of Wellness Bread is equal to 50 grams or 2 slices (average
measurement) with a slicing thickness of 5/8th of an inch.
